William P. McDonald Named
Community Transportation Manager of the Year

At their recently completed annual conference EXPO 2006 in Orlando, Florida, The Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) awarded the prestigious Transportation Manager of the Year award to local transportation executive William P. McDonald of Rochester.  Mr. McDonald is executive director of Medical Motor Service.   The award annually honors a community transportation leader for “displaying leadership while providing transportation service that is integral to the community and creates a vision that has support both inside and outside the organization.”

Medical Motor Service, established in 1919, provides direct transportation services to over 19,000 children, adults and senior citizens with disabilities, and arranges transportation using other community providers. The agency’s 187 employees strive to achieve the highest level of safety and customer satisfaction in order to improve the quality of life for people with specialized transportation needs.

Unique in Rochester and Monroe County, Medical Motor Service is the only not-for-profit transportation agency whose sole purpose is the provision of dedicated transportation services. More than 785,000 direct transportation and brokerage service trips are arranged annually to area residents of all ages who are disabled or unable to use traditional transit services.

Mr. McDonald also spoke at the conference on how community and public transportation have continually adapted to respond to the needs of a community.  Medical Motor Service is a United Way agency and a member of the Al Sigl Center Partnership of Agencies.
