Wegmans Senior Shuttle
Thanks to a partnership between Medical Motor Service (MMS)
and Wegmans Food Markets our neighbors with disabilities and the elderly
in our community are enjoying easier access and convenient transportation
to grocery stores. The two organizations launched a transportation service
that provides access to 14 Wegmans stores throughout Monroe County for
elders and persons with disabilities residing in more than 60 housing complexes.
This innovative collaboration with Wegmans is the first major agreement for transportation with a private sector company by MMS. It is unique nationally and has been cited by the Community Transportation Association of America as a best practice.
Each month, over 6,000 trips are provided to Wegmans stores by MMS.
